Rehearsals
The 2nd tier of Magical Strings West's approach to developing musical proficiency is weekly to bi-weekly group repertoire rehearsals, building the skills required to play in harmony and master the art of performance. Rehearsal is fundamental to developing rhythmic ensemble, correct intonation, and the right "feel" and style; it is a required element of the Magical Strings West program. Group repertoire is held every Saturday morning, alternating weeks between beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced rehearsals. In the week leading up to a local performance, all students participate in near-daily group rehearsals; during a tour, rehearsal are held near-daily between performances.
Local Performances
Magical Strings West provides opportunities throughout the year for its committed young violinists to perform locally for their community. The yearly Spring Concert takes place in late April to early June and is a required part of the program. Additional local performances are also highly encouraged. Past performances have been held at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center, California Academy of Sciences, Stanford Shopping Center, Cubberley Community Center, Oakwood Retirement Community, San Mateo College Theater, Cafe Borrone in Menlo Park, outdoor venues like Palo Alto Park District’s Twilight Concert Series, Mitchell Park Courtyard, and at many local schools and churches.
