Who We Are Today - Leadership

Musical & Executive Director, Emily Chiet (right) leads the repertory rehearsals and privately teaches a majority of the students in the performance group, Magical Strings West. Emily's teaching approach has been shaped by many wonderful teachers over the course of 25+ years, but she is strongly influenced by the work of her mentor, Sue Mann, whose superlative teaching was an extension of the work of her childhood teacher and master pedagogue, Betty Haag (left), founder and director of the Betty Haag Academy and Magical Strings of Youth.

Our Origins

Magical Strings West was founded by Sue Mann, who was the Musical and Executive Director until her passing on February 12, 2021. Her legacy is being honored by Emily Chiet, who stepped in to to be the Musical and Executive Director.
